The incident took place around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday evening in the city of Frankfurt.
Officers stopped the suspect on Miquelallee as part of a routine traffic check. While the driver initially complied and pulled over, he left his engine running.
Without warning, the suspect stuck the vehicle in reverse and drove intentionally into the police officer approaching the car. After the collision, he immediately accelerated forward and sped away toward the city center.
Two other officers managed to evade the vehicle and were unharmed.

Emergency responders transported the injured officer to a hospital, though the severity of his condition has not been disclosed. Despite an extensive search, authorities have so far been unable to locate the suspect or the vehicle.
Initially, the police did not go public with calls for assistance in finding the suspect. But on Wednesday, they urged anyone with any information to come forward, emphasizing the need to identify the perpetrator as soon as possible.

The criminal police unit has taken over the investigation and is considering multiple charges including assault on a law enforcement officer and reckless endangerment.
Authorities describe the suspect as being of North African appearance, aged between 25 and 30 years old, with a slim build and short black hair.
He was driving a VW Golf GTI.
Police across Germany are under extreme pressure due to migrant violence and crime, with much of that violence also directed at officers.
In an interview with RBB last year, Berlin Police Chief Barbara Slowik voiced concerns over the impact of immigration on the city and the broader nation, suggesting that the current levels of immigration are unsustainable, both financially and socially.
“I believe that a limit has been reached as to what is affordable,” she told the broadcaster.
