Following President Donald Trump cutting off military aid for Ukraine, the U.S. has now cut off intelligence sharing with the Eastern European country on Wednesday.

“Three officials familiar with the decision confirmed that Washington had frozen intelligence channels with Kyiv,” the Financial Times said Wednesday.

The action is part of President Trump’s wider agenda of peace, which also included the Pentagon ceasing offensive cyber operations against Russia on Monday.

Publications which back the liberal world order see the removal of intelligence from Ukraine as a hinderance to war rather than a policy of peace.

“…a move that could seriously hamper the Ukrainian military’s ability to target Russian forces, according to officials familiar with the matter,” the Financial Times said Wednesday.

This U.S. intelligence has been essential in Ukraine’s ability to identify and strike Russian targets. The impact of this data culminated on November 19, 2024 when U.S. long-range missiles which could carry nuclear weapons were launched from Ukraine deep into Russia. Following the strike the missiles were confirmed to only contain conventional explosives. These strikes were only made possible with U.S. intelligence sharing.

The U.K. and France both got in on the long-range strikes against Russia from Ukraine. Perhaps not surprisingly the U.S. has also commanded the U.K. to cease giving Ukraine information it uses for war.

“Since the conflict began three years ago, the U.K. and other Western security partners such as Australia and New Zealand have shared such knowledge with Ukraine,” the Daily Mail said Tuesday. “But the Mail has learnt the top-level security classification has now been removed by the United States pending further notification and is likely to impact upon Kyiv’s ability to defend itself against Russia’s continuing onslaught. The ban affects the likes of the U.K.’s GCHQ, the spy agencies and intelligence branches of the Ministry of Defence.”
