‘F**k Tusk!’ — Polish prime minister abused by own fans during World Cup qualifier in Lithuania

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk was met with a barrage of abuse from his own country’s football fans during a World Cup qualifying match in Kaunas on Saturday, as chants of “Jebać Tusk, jebać!” — a crude slogan meaning “F*** Tusk” — rang out around the stadium.

RMX reports: Tusk, attending the Poland-Lithuania Group G match alongside Lithuanian Prime Minister Inga Ruginiene, became the target of banners, chants, and hostile imagery accusing him of betraying Polish interests and siding with Berlin and Brussels.

Supporters unfurled a banner declaring, “You are not, you have never been, and you will never be a fan of the Polish national team,” echoing similar messages displayed by Lechia Gdańsk ultras earlier this season.

Another widely shared image showed Tusk with a Hitler-style mustache and a German flag painted on his forehead, symbolizing the belief among many Poles that his government is too subservient to Germany, and acted too authoritarian in its targeting of public broadcasters and legal proceedings against opposition figures early in his tenure.

The hostility escalated with the revival of a well-known chant from previous years: “Donald, you idiot, your government will be overthrown by hooligans.” Social media clips from the stands showed large sections of the Polish contingent repeatedly shouting the slogan.

Despite the abuse, Tusk remained seemingly undeterred. He was seen sitting alongside Ruginiene wearing a half-and-half Poland-Lithuania scarf and posted a selfie during the game with the caption: “There is a goal for Poland, but the Lithuanian prime minister is still smiling.”

Tusk’s social media post was heavily ratioed by Poles expressing their dissatisfaction with his administration and posting videos of the abuse.

On the pitch, Poland beat Lithuania 2-0 with goals from Sebastian Szymański in the first half and Robert Lewandowski, who sealed the win with a second-half header.
