Polish news portals “Gazeta Wyborcza” and “Krytyka Polityczna” have decided to leave X due to “disinformation.”

Gazeta Wyborcza will move to BlueSky, with its editorial office stating: “In the editorial office, we have made the decision to suspend our activity on the X service. We have been thinking about this for a long time. We believe that X not only does not combat but supports posts of a disinformative nature,” as cited by wPolityce.

Krytyka Polityczna, also a left-wing portal, has left for purportedly the same reason, stating that “Elon Musk’s Twitter – now painted black X – is a space for spreading conspiracy theories, hate and disinformation.”

The British daily Guardian and the Spanish “La Vanguardia” have announced as well that they would no longer publish posts on X, blaming Elon Musk for making X “toxic” in his work to abolish censorship.

As wPolityce points out, left-wing editorial offices clearly do not seek a censorship-free media platform where free and open discourse reigns, preferring advanced censorship tactics, such as those in force over at BlueSky. There, accounts guilty of posting any “controversial” content, such as there being only two genders, are immediately cut off.

The vast majority of commenters under the posts by Krytyka Polityczna and Gazeta Wyborcza announcing their departure seem to be happy they are leaving. Some, however, said they feel betrayed and that abandoning this service is a big mistake, as X is the largest space in Poland for political discussion.

In a direct jab at Gazeta Wyborcza, Krzysztof Stanowski, the creator of Channel Zero, said: “Due to the rampant hate on the X portal, the constant departure from proper norms and customs, and, even worse, the permanent crossing of the boundaries of good taste, I decided to stay on this platform and intensify my activity.”

“After Gazeta Wyborcza, which is fed up with disinformation, left Twitter, the level of disinformation dropped. The paradox is that if we tell them now that they can come back because the level of disinformation has dropped, the level will rise again and they will have to leave again. A vicious circle,” he added in another post.

Meanwhile, Law and Justice (PiS) MP Jan Kanthak posted a video of him pretending to cry over both outlets’ departure.
